Dutch Courage is the duo of Brent Murphy and Kerrie Garside. Combining their many years of professional experience, with different styles and musical influences.
Dutch Courage can tear up the dance floor or provide a chilled musical background as required.
Following is a brief background on Brent & Kerrie
Brent has been playing guitar professionally for over 20 years and took up the lead vocalist role in ‘95 when he put together ‘The Max’, a 4 piece covers band that performed regularly in Sydney for 18 months.
98 saw Brent join Sydney duo ‘GTS’ as lead guitarist and lead vocalist making this one time trio a very successful duo performing in Sydney venues such as the Coogee Bay Hotel, Orient Hotel and Surf Rock Café to name but a few.
After 6 years with GTS Brent decided to continue working as a solo performer. He worked solo through ‘05 and ‘06 before moving to the Central Coast and joining local lads ‘Rocwater’.
Brent currently performs solo and in the duo ‘Dutch Courage’, with Kerrie Garside. He also fronts the band 'Nothing Sacred’ which has a regular spot at Jack’s Bar, Erina and plays guitar with a corporate Live Band Karaoke show.
He has just released a CD, ‘OneSixty’, of his own original material with his band ‘The EvolvRs'.
Kerrie was the founding member and fronted popular girl band ‘The Housework Can Wait’, who worked regularly on the Central Coast over 4 years at venues such as Mingara, Doyalson RSL and Lizottes along with many private events and corporate functions for clients such as Gosford City Council, Women’s Community Health and Breast Cancer to name but a few.
Kerrie is currently playing guitar and singing in covers band ‘Nothing Sacred’ and ‘Dutch Courage’ as well as performing solo.
She has also recently released her debut solo album 'Starting Over’, which was launched in November 2009, followed a year later with another CD of original material, ‘OneSixty’, along with Brent in ‘The Evolvrs’.
Kerrie also teaches singing at the School & Community Music School (out of Narara Valley High School) and from her home in Narara.
